Seven people were killed on Saturday in two roadside explosions in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistani police said.
Yasir Afridi, the police chief in Bannu district, said a small passenger vehicle was targeted by a remotely detonated improvised explosive device while traveling through the area.
He added that a second explosion occurred as the wounded were being transported to the hospital by ambulance, killing additional victims.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks, while authorities have launched an investigation.
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the bombings, which killed civilians.
The Pakistani president warned that internal and external actors were supporting armed groups by providing safe havens, logistical support and financing, stressing that Pakistan would continue its efforts to dismantle networks threatening national stability.
